Shopping for Mangoes
Had a bit of a lazy day today but I did manage to go up Showell Green Lane, Sparkhill. This is my usual place for buying the delectable Alphonso mangoes at this time of the year. Sadly, I was a bit late getting there and all the best ones had been taken already. I will need to go back on Tuesday after the bank hols to see the new stock. Apparently, according to my dad (another mango freak, like myself), there wasn’t a great mango crop this year in India. Not sure how accurate that is but something worth keeping in mind. Prices have been higher this year but that could be due to the current economic climate as well, although you’d think things would be a bit cheaper because of it!
I posted a link onto my FB this evening and already people have shown some interest. I have posted a challenge on my mate Asif’s FB for a an Indo-Pak mango taste-off. We always disagreed on which were the best but I didn’t see him arguing when he was eating the Indian mango. I will hold judgement for now though.
This is an amazing idea! I love it!
From now on I promise I will photograh every mango dish I eat and send it you…

Thanks Saul, I look forward to that. All those Thai mango recipes-can’t wait. Do you have a recipe for the sweet mango rice dish?
